Basic Skin Care Routine

To regain and maintain a beautiful and healthy skin, it is very important to follow a cleansing and maintenance routine both in the morning and in the evening. In fact, only if the skin is carefully cleansed and toned can it absorb and benefit most effectively from the valuable active ingredients and vitamins contained in the Swissclinical creams and serums. The basic routine described below is suitable for all skin types. To correct cutaneous imperfections (acne, couperose, pigmentation), please consult the special routine.Step 1. A. Facial Wash There are plenty of facial washes that all do different things out there and come in many different forms; cleansing bars, creams, washes, etc. The classic facial wash is good for all skin. If your skin is dry you may want to try a cream cleanser, which will help to add a little moisturizer. Cleansing bars (which are not the same as bars of soap) are good for oily skin. But always read the label of the product first and make sure you understand what that product will do for you. B. Eye makeup remover This is not my favorite step, same for many girls. You need to find a cleaner that will be gentle on your eyes and effectively remove the makeup without much rubbing. If you rub your eyes you are more prone to wrinkles and loosing eyelashes, not to mention getting your makeup in your eyes. Not all makeup remover are compatible with waterproof mascara, so you'll need to check the product. I suggest you don't' wear waterproof mascara, just because it is damaging and much harder to remove. If you do not remove your eye makeup you risk getting lash mites. Which are tiny bugs that eat your eyelashes and burrow down into the root of the lash. Step 2. Exfoliate Exfoliating is very important for dry skin. It is good for every skin type to exfoliate at least once a week. You can use a rough sponge/face cloth with a cleaner on it, or a special exfoliating cleanser. Remember to use something that is appropriate to your skin type. If you have sensitive skin, using a rough sponge wouldn't be a good idea. They have all kinds of exfoliants out there, some with nut shells, some with little beads, some with granules. You'll need to find one that works for your skin. Do not rub too hard, you only want to remove the surface skin, not the underlying skin. Step 3. Astringent and Toner Astringent has a higher alcohol content then toner, they will remove extra oil and are therefore only suitable for oily skin. Toner can be used for normal or combination skin because it is gentler. If your skin is dry, skip this step. If you feel any stinging you need something more gentle for your face. Step 4. Moisturize All skin types need a moisturizer which helps prevent the skin from loosing moisture. The drier your skin is, the thicker or heavier moisturizer you will need. It is best to use a moisturizer that has UV protection, even in the winter, the sun doesn't disappear in the winter. If you have exceptionally dry skin, try using Vaseline on your face a few nights in a row. Don't use this all the time, but use it until your skin improves and then try a proper moisturizer. You can always use it again if your skin really dries out. This is usually the case for colder regions and the light moisturizers on the market do not cut it.
